THERESA AND TOMMY NICOLOSI
After recently moving to New Rochelle and learning about the Fund, Theresa was committed to inspiring health and fitness goals in young students. She envisioned a biathlon that would be fun and manageable for students of all abilities. Elijah McCollum was one of the 3rd grade students who participated in the October Splash and Dash Biathlon. Elijah was ecstatic about participating, however, that morning his excitement quickly turned to anxiety and he considered leaving. That’s where Theresa and Tommy stepped in. Elijah’s mom, Raye, said “Thanks to Tommy and Theresa, Elijah received his very first medal! They encouraged him in the pool and ran alongside him on the track, while he was cheered on by NRHS cheerleaders.” Elijah said that receiving the medal at the finish line was one of the best things that ever happened to him! As Theresa noted, “seeing the community, our cheerleaders, parents, and volunteers all remain on the course and watch him complete his run was one of the most wonderful experiences we could have hoped to see that day.” As Raye reminded us, “with so much going wrong in this world, it is important to highlight positivity and catch people doing good”!
