Volunteer of the Month: January 2017

JEANINE CHIRLIN AND ILIANA FLEISCHMAN

Jeanine Chirlin and Iliana Fleischman are partnering to host an upcoming Fund event tailored to engage New Rochelle parents with young children. Iliana and her husband,  Joe, moved to New Rochelle in 2013 with their first daughter, Scarlet (now 3.5 years old) in tow. Rosalind (1.5) soon joined the family. They were drawn to New Rochelle for many reasons including it’s schools. Iliana attended the Fund’s gala last year and, after listening to the students share their experiences, she was moved to volunteer. Over the past year, Iliana has volunteered at Arts Out Loud, the Biathlon and the Pancake Breakfast. Iliana has loved being able to bring programs to students that help them grow and thrive! Jeanine Chirlin also moved to New Rochelle in 2013 with Dan, her husband, and two kids, Max (4) and Samuel (2). Max will attend Ward Elementary in the fall. Jeanine and Dan attended the Fund’s Fall Bar Night and were intrigued by the mission of the organization and the Board members involved. Following the event, Jeanine reached out to help. “I was excited to discuss ways to raise awareness of the Fund’s critical work among young families new to the area. We want other parents to be introduced to the enrichment programs available for elementary-school children, share ideas, meet parents in the community and hopefully broaden the pool of volunteers.” After introducing Jeanine and Iliana to each other, they decided to co-host An Afternoon at the Planetarium on February 25th at 2 PM at New Rochelle High School.
