A cultural asset for the whole community
The MAC provides a professional, on-site museum experience for NRHS students. All exhibits are open to the public and free.
Located in the Arts wing of NRHS, the Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) provides students with an authentic experience of museum gallery installation and display. The MAC's annual exhibits — whether student-led collaborations or shows by established artists — invite interactive activities and discussion on art, literature, history, science, and technology.
Exhibits range from AP art student shows to traveling exhibits, with an emphasis on alumni artists. Interdisciplinary exhibits are celebrated at the MAC, such as The Air of Truth, The History of Hispanic Migration in New Rochelle and The Amazing History of Forensic Science and Honoring Women Who Inspire. The Fund pays a part-time director an annual stipend.
The Museum of Arts & Culture also collaborates with other museums, cultural institutions, and community groups to reach beyond its walls and serve as an educational and cultural resource for the entire City of New Rochelle.

Still / Life: What Lives Inside Stillness?
ArtsFest Reception: Saturday, Oct 18th from 11am - 3pm
at NRHS Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC)
The ArtsFest Reception at the MAC will include student works inspired by the exhibit, plus a special spoken word performance at noon featuring Westchester County Poet Laureate Phyllis Valenzuela, Westchester County Youth Poet Laureate and NRHS Student Harmony Hopwood, and the NRHS Poetry Club reading original “ekphrastic ” poems, written in response to the art.
Still / Life lingers in the quiet spaces—between breath and stillness, presence and absence. Rooted in the still life tradition, the works gathered here reimagine what it means to pause time, to frame the overlooked, and to ask: what lives inside stillness?
Through painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking, 11 professional artists conjure both the seen and the sensed. Here's an invitation to look again — and then again — to discover life in the pauses, the passing, and the almost forgotten.
We're super excited to co-sponsor a double-venue show titled
Still / Life at the New Rochelle Council on the Arts Rotunda Gallery at NR City Hall, and at the Museum of Arts & Culture in the performing and visual arts wing of NRHS. Still / Life will run from Sept 8-Oct 24, 2025.

Directions
To get to the House 4 Wing of NRHS and the MAC: Set your GPS to the intersection of North and Braemar Avenues. This entrance is near the tennis courts on North Avenue. NRHS is easily accessible from I-95 and the Hutchinson River Parkway.
