THE H FUND
The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence is proud to partner with Scott Forcino and his friends and family to honor Heather Tesoriero. Scott has created the H Fund....
A little bit of history
The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence is entering its 20th Anniversary year. Since 1998, the Fund has partnered with the City School District of New Rochelle and engaged the broader New Rochelle community to develop, fund and implement high-quality educational and enrichment programming that enhance the school experience and help students thrive and succeed along their educational journey.
The Fund has grown year over year to support students of all ages and backgrounds across our District. We are proud of our mission to support our school system and its extraordinary, diverse student body through advancing equity, excellence and inspiring all public school students.
Special Plans for 2017-2018
Though the Fund provides a wide range of programs, arts and creative expression is part of our DNA. There is a reason for that: Participation in the arts is associated with higher educational outcomes. Furthermore, that positive correlation is even stronger for students in families from lower socioeconomic status. In our diverse district, at a time when public funding for the arts in school are in jeopardy, it is more important than ever to celebrate our roots and commit private dollars to secure arts experiences for New Rochelle schools.
Poetry Out Loud - our poetry program for all 3rd through 6th graders - is also celebrating its 20th year! Thousands of students have had the opportunity to focus on writing their own poetry and finding their creative voice in the classrom and hundreds of students have been invited to express that voice to an audience of friends, family, teachers, adminstrators and community members. On May 14, 2018, Poetry Out Loud will be our most special celebration yet, including the voices of students current and past.

The Fund is coordinating an amazing collaboration across all school buildings with the world-renowned pop artist Charles Fazzino! In October, a Fazzino exhibit will take place at the Museum of Arts & Culture in the High School (the only Regents-chartered museum in a school in the State of New York). We will work to bring as many students to the Museum to see that exhibit and be inspired to create their own work. Fazzino and his team will offer professional development for teachers and work with students in an innovate partnership. At the completion of the project, another exhibit is planned where Fazzino's art will hang amongst students' art.

We have begun to share our plans for a pilot grantmaking program which will allow administrators, teacher, parents and even students to write grant proposals to be reviewed by the Fund! This will be a transparent and innovative approach that will complement our long-established programs and help to address the current needs that are percolating across our community - serving even more students across grade levels.

You can join us
We need to educate our students - the decision makers and leaders of the future - to develop creative problem solving skills. The Fund is working to give all students the opportunity to learn, grow and experience something that would not be possible without private support.
New Rochelle has some of the finest public schools in the country, but public dollars are not enough to ensure all of our students succeed and thrive. The Fund is committed to partnering with the City School District of New Rochelle and we would love to count you as a partner too!
All funds raised will ensure students can cultivate their creativity, increase their self-confidence and participate in innovative and accessible programming.
All donors will receive a Charles Fazzino designed item celebrating the Fund's 20th Anniversary, which features all of the New Rochelle public schools and other key sites. We encourage you to proudly make a visual declaration of your commitment to supporting public education in New Rochelle!
