Chess Instruction

Think. Plan. Play. Learn. Chess gives students an opportunity to develop strategic thinking, problem-solving and confidence — while having fun with classmates! The NR Fund helps make this program possible by providing financial support for chess instruction across our elementary schools. Families contribute a portion of the program cost through the $100 registration fee, while scholarships help ensure that financial circumstances are not a barrier to participation. The National Scholastic Chess Foundation (NSCF) provides the instructors and curriculum, while City School District staff help coordinate the program at each school.

10 weeks of instruction — $100 per student  Scholarships are available for families who need financial assistance.

Questions about Afterschool Chess? Each school has a designated Chess Point Person who can help families with the registration process. Contact your school's main office for details.

HOW TO SIGN UP:
1. Find your child’s school below and complete the interest form.This is the first step in the registration process.
2. Space is limited! If interest exceeds available space, a lottery will be held. Completing the interest form does not guarantee a spot.
3. Families will be notified by email about enrollment and next steps, including payment information.
